Tourists are still afraid of Mexican drug wars, cartels and violence, even though these days we haven’t read as much in the media about drug-related deaths as we said three years ago (apart from the recent Guerrero mass murder).
Each year, Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel and tourism website, publishes Travelers Choice Award rankings for tourism preferences globally, nationally and regionally in various categories. The 2014 award numbers clearly indicate that holidaymakers continue to visit Mexico, but that they relax in the comfort, safety and security of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and prefer them over others.
Mexico did not rank at all in the categories of the world in the best hotels, the best hostels and hostels, the best destinations on the climb, the favorite restaurants or the most general category of best destinations. It obtained a qualification in the category of best beaches of the world, like number ten of 25 of Playa Norte, in Isla Mujeres. Similarly did the ranking in the best hotels in the world, but only for The Saint Regis Punta Mita Resort in Punta de Mita. And probably due to the dollar / weight exchange rate, it ranked numbers 21 and 25 for business hotels in the world, with The Bungalows Hotel (Cabo San Lucas) and Luz in Yucatan (Merida) respectively.
However, in the category of Best All-Inclusive Resorts in the World, Mexico is the one that really shines, which suggests that when seen in the context of its lack of placement in other categories, yes, the public still fears for their safety because of Mexican anti-drug violence. , cartels and wars, but tourists feel safe and secure when staying in an all-inclusive resort, isolated from everyday Mexican life.
In the category of 25 best all-inclusive resorts in the world, Mexico ranked 11th, including the top five out of eight places. Here are the impressive results:
1) Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso (Playa Paraiso)
3) The Beloved Hotel (Women’s Beach)
5) Excellence Playa Mujeres (Playa Mujeres)
6) Le Blanc Spa Resort (Cancun)
8) Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun (Maroma Beach)
16) Excellence Riviera Cancún (Puerto Morelos)
17) Live Aqua Cancun All Inclusive (Cancun)
19) Club Med Ixtapa Pacific (Ixtapa)
21) Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun (Puerto Morelos)
22) Cozumel Palace (Cozumel)
25) Palau del Sol (Cancún)
Mexico is generally a safe country to vacation. Just stick to any place other than unbridled drug-related violence and gender-based warfare. Of course, the guys who haven’t been here yet would disagree. Think, for example, of safe havens like Chiapas, Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende and similar expatriate enclaves, Yucatan, Pacific resorts … and yes, all inclusive. Don’t be more or less cautious than you would on vacation in any other developing nation, and in balance, it should be fine; and better yet enjoy your trip to Mexico whether or not more than other vacation spots.
